Beth & Nick’s wedding this past October in Old City Philadelphia was a day full of elegant style mixed with a classic “old Hollywood” feel to the reception at TRUST with just a sprinkle of historic relevance (the cocktail hour was held in Betsy Ross’s front yard after all). What does this all add up to besides an unforgettable wedding day? The perfect environment for a vintage film camera to capture everything on old school, Super-8 film!

No wedding day is complete without some form of moving picture to help tell the story of the wedding with all of the memorable events and gathering of family and friends which can many times happen once in a lifetime. And in my opinion, there is no more timeless and artistic way to tell the story of your wedding day than with a movie shot on Super-8 film. Max’s Arrival – Home Movie Style

Our boy Maximus Michael has been here for about 3 months now. I recently received the processed Super-8 film that I shot during his birth and first week. He has already changed and grown so much in these past 12 weeks so I’m glad to have shot a good bit of film during those early days at home with Max. This is a highlight clip I put together from about 10 rolls of film shot over that first week or so. Enjoy!

As usual when I get super-8 film back from processing I can barely wait to edit it and get a clip posted online. This was the case for Sharon & Alex’s wedding as well. We shot this film via our film and video company (First Floor Films) but I wanted to share it here on the 217 Photography blog too.

Sharon & Alex held their wedding at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown in November. We were on hand to capture the day in both video and Super-8 film. We absolutely LOVE working with Super-8 film as it gives the wedding movies such a unique and nostalgic look. Sharon & Alex’s late autumn wedding was a perfect affair to be captured with the vintage look of Super-8 film.

This is a trailer that I put together recently from some of the film footage shot during the pre-ceremony, the photo shoot around City Hall in Philadelphia led by Jenn Childress and several parts of the reception. Enjoy!

I am finally ready to announce the launch of the film division, branch, extension or what-have you of 217 Photography. I am now offering packages with a Super-8 film component! What is Super-8 film some may ask? Just take a look at the sample film clips below and you will immediately see and feel (some of you may even taste….ewwww) the nostalgic quality and organic look of Super-8 film. Right now I am just testing the waters to gauge what kind of interest there may be from all of you . But, I do plan on incorporating various Super-8 film options into my offerings for those couples who may be looking to add an artistic and unique look to their wedding day memories. Super-8 film packages from 217 Photography are also available as stand alone and independent from a 217 Photography package.
