Max’s First Haircut

We just returned from taking Max to get his very first haircut! He’s not even a year old yet, but his long locks were already over due for a trim so we took him right down the street to Floyd’s 99 Barbershop in Willow Grove.
He was a champ in the chair and didn’t even cry once.

Dawn’s Birthday at Longwood Gardens via Polaroid

My beautiful, talented, charming, wonderful wife (who in no way paid me to say those things) celebrated her birthday yesterday! Max, Gammy, Dawn and I spent the day together at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square. I was just there the other day on an engagement session. Pics of that session will be here shortly as well. For personal shooting it’s sometimes nice to leave the big guns at home and photograph an afternoon with a Polaroid camera and my iphone. But to be honest, the Polaroid with peel apart film can be even more cumbersome than having Digital cameras strapped on both shoulders as I do during a wedding or portrait shoot.

These are just a few instant pics from our afternoon at Longwood Gardens yesterday. Happy Birthday Dawn!

San Francisco Trip – Thanksgiving 2011

Just before Thanksgiving Dawn, Max, Gammy and I took off for a vacation in San Francisco. Jay & Amy were heading out of the country for a bit and needed some cat sitters for their babies Monte and Dracula.

This was my home on and off between 1997 and 2006 so I always enjoy getting back there to see friends and spend time in and around the Bay Area.

I recently did a newborn photo session and when I came home I was inspired to take some photos of our own little guy, Max. He’s almost 7 months old now and just (like 2 minutes ago) started crawling. Well it was more like scooting…..and it was backwards. But the boy is now mobile! Our cats better start running….at least Pomes might loose some weight.

Max’s Arrival – Home Movie Style

Our boy Maximus Michael has been here for about 3 months now. I recently received the processed Super-8 film that I shot during his birth and first week. He has already changed and grown so much in these past 12 weeks so I’m glad to have shot a good bit of film during those early days at home with Max. This is a highlight clip I put together from about 10 rolls of film shot over that first week or so. Enjoy!

Max’s Arrival

It’s been exactly two weeks now since the arrival of our baby boy, Maximus Michael. Two, poop filled weeks. Dawn, Max and I have been adjusting nicely at home thanks mostly to Dawn’s mom, Shirley staying with us until last night. We had a three person baby duty rotation going for the past two weeks. To say that this was a big help would be an extreme understatement. Gammy we thank you and we love you 217! And thank you to my mom for cooking and delivering several meals for us throughout the past two weeks. Enough yacking…….onto the photos.

Little Maximus was a week late and Dawn’s doctors decided that it was time to induce her labor. Little did we realize early on Wednesday morning that Max had other plans.

Dawn is just a bit frustrated after being hooked up to a pitocin drip all day long with only the slightest bump of a contraction to show for it.

Gina, Gammy, Dawn and I played cards and rolled dice to pass the time while we waited for Dawn to get some contractions going. The nurses would check on Dawn every 20 minutes or so and would often laugh that her contractions obviously were NOT happening as she was sitting still, laughing and they were still able to see her dimples (which by the way…..the baby has).

They let you eat after you’ve been in the hospital for 10+ hrs.

Day two of the induction began and Dawn was a little less than enthused to still be in the hospital with no contractions.

Finally after about 36 hours of induction with no signs of labor Dawn’s Dr. decided to go in and get Max.

One of the anesthesiologists knew his way around the camera and offered to shoot a few of us. I would like to thank him, whoever he may be. We love these photos!

Aunt Gina & Gammy see the new family member for the first time around 1:30AM.

Max had elevated bilirubin levels and was a bit jaundiced. So the hospital hooked him up with a cool little light vest that he was to wear to help lower his bilirubin levels via light therapy. It sorta made him look like a baby in “Tron”.

And just one of my main man and favorite subject, Pomey. I wouldn’t want him to feel left out now that there is a Baby in the house!Dawn and I are very grateful for our wonderful family and friends. Thank you for all of your support throughout the whole pregnancy and delivery of little Maximus. And to my wife, Dawn…..I love you very much. I’ve loved you as my friend, as my wife and now as the mother to our baby. You have always been an amazing and inspiring woman and I am thrilled to be able to watch you become a remarkable mother to our little boy, Maximus. I love you both 217.

A bachelorette Party for Kate Middleton

Last Thursday I photographed a party. It was a bachelorette party……for Kate Middleton. Yes, just a few hours before the royal wedding took place in London some of America’s loveliest ladies were throwing the Duchess of Cambridge a party.

I am photographing Kristin’s wedding later this year at The Flourtown Country Club. When Kristin posted on Facebook that her mom was attending a bachelorette party for Kate Middleton, I knew I had to be there! These are some of the many, many photos we took that evening. It was a lot of fun and I thank all of you ladies for allowing me to have a small part in the royal wedding festivities of last week!
