This is just a quick little post of some fun shots I took the other night.
I was playing around with a new umbrella and flash while Dawn and I were at my parents’ house. These were just a few of the several hundred images we shot that evening.
Dawn and my Mom will probably want to kill me for posting these. But until they demand that these be removed….enjoy!

Easter Brunch at Hotel Hershey and a birthday party at Gammy’s

Easter brunch at The Hotel Hershey has been a tradition in our family for as long as I can remember. We look forward to it weeks ahead of time. So much good food, desserts and well, you get the idea. This year Easter happened to fall on Dawn’s sister’s birthday as well. So after our annual trip to Hershey for brunch, we celebrated with Gina & Anthony at Gammy’s house. And….today is Anthony’s actual birthday. Since we sort of celebrated Gina & Anthonys birthday together on Sunday, Anthony get’s the official birthday shout-out today. Happy Birthday Anthony!As is the norm when I shoot video of my family I get lots annoyed looks and hands up in the camera. This year’s Easter video of course does not break with that tradition! Meet Randy!

So, a few months ago I ordered a mannequin from E-bay. There are actually a TON of different types of mannequins on E-bay….I never knew. Anyway, my plan was to have a mannequin on standby whenever I wanted to practice some lighting techniques and general shooting. I work from home and I often get the urge to get out and work on portrait photography in the middle of the day. But with Dawn off at work, and the cats deemed “indoor only”, who can I have as my subject on a moment’s notice? Randy….that’s who!
So with the recent warm weather and perfect days, I have really wanted to get outside , away from the computer and do some testing of some off camera lighting that I purchased over the winter. Just the other day I brought Randy out front, set-up a light stand with a flash an umbrella and started shooting away. Then Dawn came home from work only to pull up to see her 35 year old husband in front of our home playing with his dolly. I knew she was proud of me! Also, with several engagement sessions in and around Philadelphia and Bucks County coming up on my schedule in the next few weeks and months, Randy may be taking requests! If you want to meet Randy and have him come along for your portrait session, I’m sure we can arrange that. Just let me know in advance so I can clear his schedule.

This one could be Randy’s album cover shot….if he somehow records an album and releases it to the world.

After a few minutes of protesting, Dawn finally agreed to pose for a quick shot with our boy Randy. I think her expression of half smile, half annoyance says it all.

Today is my Mom’s birthday. Dawn, my dad and I took her out to Maggiano’s for dinner. I gave her this diptych of myself. She laughed. Happy birthday Mom. I love you very much!!

Snow, snow and more snow!

With Dawn being a middle school teacher, she has been off for almost a full week now due to the feet upon feet of snow we’ve all experienced here. We had a fun couple of days together shoveling and then shoveling and then shoveling some more. We also managed to take a few cold walks in the snowy world outside. These are just a few of the shots that I took along the way.

This was the scene from our bedroom (taken with the hipstamatic app on my iphone). I’m not sure why the date says Feb of 80. But it works!

NYC at Chrismas | Radio City Music Hall & Carnegie Deli

This past Christmas Dawn and I got our parents tickets to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. So we all went up together a few days after Christmas to see the show, spend some time in Rockefeller Center and eat at Carnegie Deli. The show at Radio City Music Hall was very fun, and quite the spectacle. The crowds in and around Rockefeller Center however….not so much. It was PACKED in Mid-town Manhattan that day. We all had a good afternoon together despiste some crazy crowds. The show was great, the weather was slighlty warm and the cheesecake at Carnegie Deli was Fan-freakin-tastic! Below is a short video of our visit to Carnegie Deli and some photos from the day in NYC.

Our new addition | Frances

Dawn and I have officially become “those weird cat people”. We have adopted another kitty, bringing the total kitty population in our home to 3! This past week, we welcomed little Frances (named after my Mom-Mom who still doesn’t know that she has had a cat named after her) into our home. So far so good. Well, sort of. Pomey, our 18 pound king cat of the house is the most laidback cat in the world (which may be why he weighs 18 pounds) has been very welcoming. His sister Bella is a bit nastier towards little Frances. But, she’ll come aroound soon I’m sure. Bella is always slow to adopt any sort of change. Anyway, now that I have written a paragraph about our cats, I have REALLY cemented my place in the “weird cat people” category! Enjoy these pics of our new kitten.

Nothing to report in this post. Just posting a few personal shots from this summer. I try to shoot mostly real film for everyday stuff in an effort to keep it simple. This way I don’t really have to process the images! Just shoot for fun, get them developed and they are done. Enjoy! And for any film nerds out there……Kodak UC100 film shot with a Lomo LCA+.
